Why Join?

The Lions club of Berlin was founded on November 17, 1941 by community minded citizens. The club fosters a strong commitment to the community and has actively championed a wide range of projects.

Lions Memorial Pool was built by Veterans returning from WWII who wanted a safe swimming pool for town children. In 1947, the club built the first community swimming pool in Berlin. It was named Lions Memorial Pool in honor of those service men and women who fell in defense of our nation.

The Berlin Lions Agricultural Fair was started in 1948. The fair promotes and preserves CT's proud agricultural tradition and heritage. The Fair has become a major service project as it provides community organizations an opportunity to promote their own fundraisers. Funds raised through the Berlin Fair are returned to the community through service projects, direct donations to community organizations, and to support foundations supported by CT Lions District 23-B and Lions International.

The Berlin Blues Festival was started in 2000. Proceeds have helped fund and construct Friendship Place, a Boundless playground, and have helped finance the operation of the Lions Low Vision Center.

What is involved?

The Berlin Lions club is a group of men and women that are bound by the same desire to serve the community of Berlin. Regularly scheduled meetings provide a forum for planning and organization for the numerous projects the club is always working on.
